Wow Cher! You have a lot of hosta plants. The Blue Mouse Ears are so cute. Dream Queen has such a beautiful leaf pattern on it. Enjoy this warm up.

Very nice collection of hostas. I'm a hosta-a-holic myself. It the plant I look forward to most in the spring. I'm always running out to see if they are poking through yet, especially the new ones.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of yours.

Hi Cher, You have a nice selection of hostas. My favorites are August Moon, Big Daddy, Brother Stefan, and Dream Queen. Thanks for showing your pretty hostas. We adore hostas too.

Dużo ich masz i niektóre mają bardzo ciekawe liście. Ja mam tylko cztery gatunki. Bardzo je lubię, bo są piękne. Pozdrawiam.
Many of them have and some have a very interesting list. I have only four species. I like them very much because they are beautiful. Yours.

Hi Cher,
Very nice Hosta collection! I have some of these in my garden as well. Love, love big daddy!! I added more of them last summer... The little mouse ears are new to me they are sweet, would be great as a border plant close and up front! Thank you for this, looking forward to the rest of your collection!
Pagan is just where she wants to be a natural always in the picture, just like Riley I don't know how they do it ;0)
All the Best,
Christine

Wow... how many hostas! This collection is very beautiful... I haven't any plants of hosta, but I think that will make it! Hugs... and happy New Year, even if in late!

What a nice selection of hostas and even more to come!
I struggle to grow hostas in my yard between the heat and the slugs and snails, but they do look good for a couple of months. It's nice to see your healthy looking hostas!

Of all your lovely hostas, I think Dream Queen is perhaps my favorite... very similar to Thunderbolt which I have... I must say that I am really impressed with your heuchera collection that you featured in your last post... wonderful! Larry

I didn't realize you had so many hostas! They're beauties! I'm always forgetting the names of mine. Several were seedlings from a friend so they're just referred to as 'my hostas from Annette'.

I just love hostas! You have a nice collection - and am impressed that you have so many of them! I look forward to seeing the next two months' pictures, too. I don't know the name of any of my hostas, but I love that these plants are so varied - big, small, variegated, blue, green, and even yellow.

Hi Cher,

You have such an extensive collection of hosta plants! Each one is so unique. You have got me missing my garden now :-)

Hi Cher!
Happy midwinter to you. I agree with several of your friends, Dream Queen is pretty spectacular. All are lovely though!

Always looking for those furry kids!
You have a lot of hostas. Amazing. Our heat just does them in. I have one variety. It looks good until mid/late June when it blooms. Then, it kind of disappears.

How I would love to visit your yard/garden some day! I despair of remembering the names of the 8-12 variety that I have here at Gatescroft! Should I need to know, I am thankful that you have compiled such great photos with more accurate names than "that HUGE one", white with green, green with white, little yellow one, etc. :)

Was für schöne Hosta. Ich wußte nicht, dass es so viele Sorten gibt.
Mir gefallen die weiß blühenden besonders gut.

What gorgeous Hosta plants! I love to see raindrops on their leaves. I was very pleased to see a flower spike too. Because hostas are grown for their foliage, it takes quite a bit of research to find out which ones are white and which ones, lavender.

Your dog is very cute!

Wow, that is a lot of different hostas; they are beautiful!
And what a cute pup--didn't even see Pagan the first time thru the pictures!

Your hostas are wonderfully free of slugs- I bet you get sick of gardeners asking about slugs! Do you think the mulch helps or hinders with this pest?

Sunray Gardens said...

Hi Roger. Your email notification here didn't use a return email address so I'll answer here and hope you see it. I'm sure the mulch helps hide slugs. I do try to get out and spray vinegar water on them at night when I'm up late enough. It's never ending though.

I sure might try some hostas this year

I have always imagined you are a highly detailed person! I've actually never owned a home with a single spot of shade big enough to grow a hosta, can you believe that?
Yours are lovely, not ratty or faded at all!

Angie said...

Popped over for a visit from Roger's blog - I commented on his that I found that bark mulch harboured slugs in my garden and the clearly do not in yours :)
Can I ask what ratio water/vinegar do you use for spraying? I currently carry around a pale of salty water and just drop the blighters in.
Oops, almost forgot to add - your hostas are beautiful! I've not got as many as you but would love them to look as healthy as yours.
