Rose Apricot Drift Mums Daisy Ilex Blue Princess

Gardening for the year is over and as with most gardeners we wait and plan for next Spring and what it brings.

Photobucket
The beautiful Yorkshire Terrier Pagan dressed for Halloween stopping by the White Mums. This area looks so bare after being cut back other than a few Mums and Heuchera.

Photobucket
The lone bloom coming out on my Rose Apricot Drift. Since I am doing more flowering shrubs, I think I may add a few more Roses in also, if I can find some more that do not need sprayed. I am not going to do the whole spraying thing, but I also do not want to deal with horrible foliage.

Photobucket
I cut back the Daisies to new basal growth in mid September because I was going to be so busy and the new buds had burned up anyway. Well end of October and here is one that popped through. Weigela Dark Horse sets the background, but everything else is cut down in here, yet I have a new bud also on my Coreopsis Sunray.

Photobucket
Ilex Blue Princess. This poor Holly has been moved probably 6 times in a few years time and is back to I believe it's second location. It hasn't hurt it being moved, although I'm not seeing much growth, which I wouldn't expect to after all the moves. The birds like it though and already have eaten all but a few berries.

Hi Cher!
We're getting ready for winter in CA too. One of my favorite roses here is a little shrub rose called 'Pillow Fight'. Nice foliage, small, and always seems to be in bloom. Reblooms even if you don't deadhead it - a real work saver.

oh my word she is ADORABLE!!!
I had the Dark Horse until it got to be about 14 feet high and I "shovel pruned" it!
Love the lone daisy.
How many yorkies do you have now?

I also cut some things back in September, but they came up with some surprises. I guess they were saying, 'we are not done yet.' :)

Cher, Pagan is a cutie. I don't think Aster would let me put a Halloween costume on her!

Oh how sweet your little Yorkie looks dressed in Halloween outfit. LOL!I want a Yorkie so much. Trick or Treat is here tonight and it is going to be a wet and miserable on for the little ones. It is so sad to see the blooms fading away Cher.
At least the roses are giving you a few last blooms.

Cher, you used the 4-letter-word (snow) on my blog today. Oh, I'm SO not ready! I've not begun to cut back my perennials (as you have)! I'm still enjoying the sedum (though some have fallen - as have my mums...) "Next week, for sure!" I tell myself.

I'm adding a 'Blue Maid' holly to my front border next spring. I hope it likes its spot!! David Austin's Sceptre d'Isle does very well in my hot, humid climate and never needs to be sprayed. It even takes a bit of shade!

At first: thank You for visiting me.
I must say she is lovely....yes, she is.

Here we do the same. One of these days i'll take some pictures of my garden to show you.
Winter is comming...the cold is out there...LOL

Hugs ans kisses.

It's sad to put the garden to bed for the winter, but fun to find things for next year. I have 3 "The Fairy" shrub roses that you can't kill. They don't get sprayed, have been mowed over by my father-in-law and moved at least twice. They are at least 16 years old. Pretty pink blooms (little) and easy to find.

Take care!

I love that you give the real name of all your flowers and shrubs. It makes it much easier to get ideas from your garden blog.

Pagan is precious in her Halloween costume. Toby and Phoebe aren't dressing up this year. I've dressed them in the past to help me hand out treats but they bark so much at the trick-or-treaters's costumes that it isn't worth it for them to be running loose in the house.

I think the snow we just had has discouraged almost all plants to go into dormancy - all but the lespedeza and a couple of sturdy asters!

Good luck to your poor holly - I also have a tendency to transplant things over and over. I'd better stop with the ones that are finally getting big or my back will break :-) I have many plans for transplanting all sorts of stuff next spring, though!
